Lenovo ThinkPad 10 officially announced

Lenovo ThinkPad 10
Microsoft's Surface tablets were designed in the hopes that manufacturing partners will follow up with their own devices offering the same level of portability and productivity for their users. Lenovo is one of those manufacturers, who have responded with the ThinkPad 10 tablet.

Lenovo’s new tablet will be available in a variety of configurations to serve the company’s business clientele, but it has a good feature set for anyone that is looking for a tablet with full computing capabilities. This all in one tablet runs the full 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system and its body is made of aluminum while the full HD IPS display is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The tablet has an 8MP camera on its rear and a secondary 2MP camera in front for Skype video calls. The base model comes with 64GB of internal storage, while you will have the option of a 128GB model or the choice of adding a microSD card for storage expansion. The tablet is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor, and will come with memory options of 2GB or 4GB of RAM.

The tablet itself has HDMI-out, and one USB 2.0 port. The reason for the 2.0 port on the tablet itself is due to the chipset, however Lenovo is able to provide 2 USB 3.0 ports on the separate tablet dock accessory. Lenovo will even give users the option of including cellular data connectivity, if they want to stay productive when they are on the road. There is stylus support with a digitize pen and Lenovo has a host of other accessories available as well.

The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 will be available starting June and will have a $599 starting price attached to it. While it may not be as powerful as the Microsoft Surface Pro 2, its price and ability to run full Windows desktop apps should make it a very appealing choice. If you are not convinced, you can check out the following unboxing and first look videos that Lenovo has put together.
