Today Stephen Elop, Nokia's CEO announced the newest flagship device to Nokia's Lumia portfolio during the BUILD 2014 keynote - The Nokia Lumia 930 with Windows Phone 8.1. The handset is visually and internally similar to the Nokia Lumia Icon, with a 5 inch full 1080p HD display, a 20MP PureView camera and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.
The design aesthetics are also similar to the Lumia Icon, with a metal band running along its side and a polycarbonate back panel. The handset also includes wireless charging and it captures outstanding sound thanks to its advanced microphone that also support directional stereo recording.
The 20MP camera is almost identical to the unit found on the Lumia Icon as well. It features a large, 1/2.5" image sensor, f/2.4 aperture, and auto-focus with 2-stage shutter key. Of course, it allows the same features like 2x high-resolution zoom and optical image stabilization (OIS).
On the software side, you will have Windows Phone 8.1 of course, but Nokia will also include a new Nokia Storyteller app that will combine your images and videos, and add a soundtrack to them, much like HTC does with its highlight reels.
The Nokia Lumia 930 release date is set for June, when the phone will start selling in Europe. Later on, the phone will sell in Asia, India and Middle East. It will be available on more than 100 operators, and its starting price is set at $599 off contract.
