The was officially announced today as the successor to the . The handset is an entry-level Android smartphone powered by a MediaTek chipset.

The Desire 310 features a 4.5 inch display with a 480 by 854 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5MP rear camera capable of 1080p video capture, dual SIM, and a 1.3GHz quad-core MT6582M MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM.

On the software side you get Android 4.4 KitKat which includes Android 4.4.2 and HTC's Sense UI. This means you will get access to BlinkFeed, which debuted on the HTC One, the Offline Reading mode allows users to create a personalized article feed that automatically downloads the content once the smartphone connects to a Wi-Fi network, making the feature "an ideal option for those on a limited data plan."

The HTC Desire 310 will be available from April in Europe and other regions. Its pricing has not been officially revealed, but it is expected to cost $232 (169 euros).
