The Sony SmartWatch 2 is the successor to last year's SmartWatch, bringing slight incremental changes as the company is still in the stage of gauging the wearable electronics market. Even though it has a low-resolution display you get decent battery life, simplified interface, water resistance, and hundreds of third party apps.
The biggest competitor the Sony SmartWatch 2 has to face is the Samsung Galaxy Gear which sports more functions like speakers, mic and camera, but with a more cumbersome interface, shorter battery life, compatibility with certain Galaxy phones only, and costs $100more than the $200 SmartWatch 2.
For now, Sony's SmartWatch 2, despite all its bugs and glitches, is a decent entrance to the world of wearable electronics. Giving the user the option to glance at their watch for notifications without having to reach for their phones is bound to be a growing trend.
