Galaxy Nexus will not receive Android 4.4 update from Google

While Android 4.4 KitKat promises to bring better support for low-end and older devices, that doesn't mean Google is willing to bring their latest version of Android to their older devices. With the announcement of Android 4.4 and the devices which will be receiving the update, it was clear that the two-year old Galaxy Nexus will not be receiving any new versions of Android from Google.

Google's support page says, "Galaxy Nexus, which first launched two years ago, falls outside of the 18-month update window when Google and others traditionally update devices." While this is acceptable, it is also frustrating that the update that promises to make older devices faster, wont be available to devices which need it.

Galaxy Nexus owners, could still rely on the developer community, who will hopefully work on bringing Android 4.4 support to unsupported devices like the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Motorola Xoom.

On the other hand, if you have a Galaxy Nexus, you may also consider grabbing a Nexus 5, for the best Android 4.4 KitKat experience.
