Apple has scheduled a special media event in San Francisco for October 22nd, where the company is expected to unveil their newest iPad and iPad mini. The event will be centered around the fifth generation iPad, which is expected to feature a thinner and lighter frame inspired by the Apple iPad mini. The new iPad is also expected to have a thinner bezel and to be fitted with the Apple A7 64-bit processor. The iPad mini is also expected to have updated hardware and a retina display.
Both devices are even rumored to feature fingerprint scanners like the Apple iPhone 5s, but we doubt Apple will include this treatment for the mini, which is considered a 'cheaper' tablet. We also doubt the iPad mini will feature the latest A7 processor due to the same reason.
Apple is also expected to use this event to officially release Mac OS X (10.9) Mavericks, which recently reached its final GM build. Mavericks should be introduced alongside the new Mac Pro, but we would also like to see a refreshed MacBook Pro lineup during the event.
Following the announcement of on October 22, Apple would likely release their new tablets around the end of this month or the first week of November.
