Apple iOS 7.0.3 released; fixes imessage and acceleromter issues and more

Alongside the release of the Apple iPad Air and the Apple iPad mini 2 on Tuesday, Apple has also released the iOS 7.0.3 software update as expected, which brings several key features and improvements. Among the improvements is a fix for the accelerometer which causes the erroneous readings from the gyroscope and the compass. The update adds a password generator for Safari and repairs a lock screen bug. The update also repairs several iMessage bugs that prevented messages from being sent and received and eliminates a VoiceOver glitch that negatively impacted Siri.

In addition, iOS 7.0.3 will also bring Wikipedia and web search back to Spotlight. After the update, "slide to unlock" will not display immediately if Touch ID is enabled.

The full change-log of the iOS 7.0.3 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch follows:

  • Adds iCloud Keychain to keep track of your account names, passwords, and credit card numbers across all your approved devices
  •  Adds Password Generator so Safari can suggest unique, hard-to-guess passwords for your online accounts
  • Updates lock screen to delay display of "slide to unlock" when Touch ID is in use
  • Adds back the ability to search the web and Wikipedia from Spotlight search
  • Fixes an issue where iMessage failed to send for some users
  • Fixes a bug that could prevent iMessage from activating

  • Updates the Bold Text setting to also change dial pad text

The update will be pushed OTA (over-the-air) to supported devices, and you can download to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch under Settings. You could also download the update by connecting your device to iTunes.
