Sony VAIO Tap 11 tablet announced with Windows 8

The Sony VAIO Tap 11 is a new tablet which is almost as thin and light as the Apple iPad  and is touted as the "world's thinnest Windows 8 tablet" by Sony. The device features a 11.6 inch Triluminous touch display with a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution, up to 512GB of SSD storage, 4th generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors and up to 4GB of RAM.

While Sony may not have been able to bring the 4.5 watt fanless Haswell to their VAIO Tap 11, you have to be impressed with the sleek 9.9mm thickness and less than two pound weight they have been able to achieve with the device.

Other features on the VAIO Tap 11 include a full 3.0 USB port, microSD slot and a microHDMI port which can be used to connect your tablet to your TV. Sony has even included a built-in stand on the tablet if you want to use enjoy your movies and video on the 1080p screen.

Sony has included a detachable keyboard for those who want to get productive with your VAIO Tap 11. It attaches to the screen with magnets and doubles as a cover, while offering added battery life through its included battery. The attractive aluminum design with chiclet keys and trackpad wont find too many complaints while the added stylus and accompanying apps will help those who want to take notes, draw or make annotations.

The thin chassis and all this power had to come with one drawback and that is the battery life. Fortunately its a reasonable six hours thanks to the boost offered by its Haswell CPU. Sony has still to reveal the pricing for this device, but you will know soon enough when it arrives in stores next month.
