Sharp has announced the Aquos Xx and the Aquos Xx mini for the Japanese carrier Softbank.
Conquering the smartphone market hasn't been easy for Sharp, and they hope that their two new flagships will have what the company needs.
The Sharp Aquos Xx is the more powerful of the two with a 5.5 inch full HD S-CG Silicon TFT display. Its a little surprising that Sharp didn't use their own IGZO panels which are cheaper and offer higher pixel density. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 16.3 megapixel CMOS camera with an aperture of f/1.9, a secondary 1.2 megapixel camera for video calls, a non-removable 2600 mAh battery and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. The Sharp Aquos Xx will be made available sometime in December, but pricing is currently unknown.
The Sharp Aquos Xx mini is a smaller variant of its sibling with a 4.5 inch display. Despite the smaller size the mini also has a full 1080p HD display and comes fitted with an IGZO LCD panel this time around. This results in an amazing 490 ppi pixel density. The Aquos Xx mini comes with a smaller 2120 mAh battery but matches it sibling with a a 16.3 megapixel CMOS camera with an aperture of f/1.9, a secondary 1.2 megapixel camera and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with and the same 2GB of RAM. The Sharp Aquos Xx mini is only set to arrive in February and its pricing is currently unknown.
Both handsets feature a slim bezels but are a little on the chubbier side. While slim phones are definitely sort after, we prefer devices built for comfort rather than a device that is too thin and tends to slip out between your fingers... Unfortunately we cant personally vouch for the newest Sharp flagships unless we get our hands on them.
