Samsung Galaxy S4 running Tizen

Samsung is expected to officially introduce developers to their Tizen platform at an event scheduled for late October. Tizen is a premium smartphone platform which Samsung will likely use as their primary platform down the line, giving them an opportunity to wean away from Android. Google will definitely not want to lose their biggest Android manufacturer, but such a transition will take place over a longer time frame and not in the near future.

A new report from Tizen Indonesia claims that the launch of the platform wont happen until Q1 of next year, but interestingly the report also shows version 3.0 of the OS running on a Samsung Galaxy S4

This may not be the final version of Tizen, which will likely go through further changes before it is ready for final launch.

Do you think Tizen is a real threat for the Samsung led Android dominance? Or do you feel Tizen will die off quietly without getting any attention from the developer community.
