Android 4.4 KitKit unveiled, shows updated dialer, messaging and more

Google has revealed that Android 4.4 KitKat will be their next version of Android, but have not revealed what new features will be offered with their newest desert. However the launch of the updated mobile OS is drawing closer and with it we are getting glimpses of what to expect when Android KitKat finally arrives in October.

The latest leaks comes in the form of some photos, which show and an updated Dialer which comes in blue and feels less cluttered. The Messages app also has a new look with its controls moved to the top. We can't help but wonder if Google will be offering a universal messaging application as the Messages app seems to have borrowed some visual elements from Google+ notifications. We also see that the notifications bar on the top and the menu keys bar at the bottom have improved transparency allowing them to blend better with open applications.

Android 4.4 KitKat is expected to arrive next month likely alongside a new Nexus smartphone and a revised Nexus 10 tablet. While there are contradicting stories on which OEMs will produce the hardware for Google's newest devices it is rumored that the smartphone will come from LG while the tablet will be manufactured by Asus.
