Microsoft Surface (Pro) arrives at retail stores ahead of launch

The Microsoft Surface (Pro) is expected to go on sale on February 9th. But it looks like the device has already been put up on display in retail stores around U.S. and Canada. This gives potential buyers a chance to play around with the device before they choose to purchase the somewhat expensive device.

The Surface Pro which runs Windows 8 instead of Windows RT features a 10.6-inch HD touch display, up to 128GB of internal storage, a full-USB 3.0 port, and is powered by Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor. The 64GB model costs $899 while the 128GB model will cost you $999, making the opportunity to try before you buy very worthwhile.

Unlike the ARM based Microsoft Surface RT which is restricted to running apps on the Windows Store. The Surface Pro is capable of running regular apps which you installed on your regular computers or laptops. However Microsoft will not be including the free version of Office 2013 which is available for on Surface RT devices for FREE.

The extra power comes with a few more disadvantages. For example the battery life is around half what the Surface RT offers, which means you will only get 5 hours on your Surface Pro. The Surface Pro also weighs two pounds more than the Surface RT.

Will the Surface RT has been around for some time now, but it is unable to gain the market share Microsoft would have liked it to. We are uncertain if things will be different with the Surface Pro especially because of its high price. We hope that Microsoft will eventually reduce the prices of their tablets or they may have to continue struggling to achieve any position in the tablet market.
