Google Nexus 4 receives Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update

The Google Nexus 4 is finally receiving the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update. I guess it’s better late than never. The update was released yesterday for the Google Nexus 10, Google Nexus 7 and Google Galaxy Nexus and it now making its way to company’s flagship smartphone.

The update carries the JDQ39 build number and is 54MB in size. As we previously reported, the Android 4.2.2 update brings an updated download progress status bar which shows how much time is left until the app has completed downloading. It also brings new sounds including one for wireless charging and an update to the Quick Settings feature, which allows you to toggle your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with a long press. There are also new animations in the gallery app which allow pictures to load faster and option to list all calls has been removed in the Phone app’s call list.

The update will roll out in phases, so it may be a couple of days when it arrives on your device. However if you are impatient and don’t want to wait for the OTA update, you can manually download and install the update using the following link.

There are reports which suggest that Android 4.2.2 will be the last Jelly Bean build, before Google introduces Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie at the upcoming Google I/O. It isn't certain if the Nexus 4 will once again rise to feature the newer version of Android or if Google will debut their Motorola X Phone to take the spotlight. Have you received the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update on your Nexus 4 yet? If you have leave us a comment below and let us know if you come across any new features we may have missed.
