Google Galaxy Nexus for Verizon to receive an update soon

Verizon support has confirmed that they will be releasing a software update for their Google Galaxy Nexus very soon. Despite carrying the Nexus moniker which promises the device quick updates, the Verizon model has found itself four versions behind its GSM counterpart.

The last version of Android the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has received is the Android 4.1.1 update, which has seen been passed by Android 4.1.2, Android 4.2.1 and the latest version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean – Android 4.2.2.

The news of the update comes in response to a query sent to the Verizon support team on Twitter, which reads:
Samsung will push the update directly to your device over the air. Sorry, no release date. But, it will be soon.^LH
What's strange in the Tweet is that Samsung generally doesn’t release software updates to the Nexus devices which comes directly from Google. The only reasons for delays generally come from Verizon, which puts the update through a vigorous testing cycle before they approve it for release. The other frustrating part of the message is that there is no indication of what version of Android will be released. Unfortunatly there is no choice but to wait and see.
