[Guide] How to manually install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on the Google Nexus 7

We reported that Google was rolling out an update (4.1.2) to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for their Google Nexus 7 tablet. However Google only released the update which carries the build JZO54K to certain regions. The update doesn’t bring any significant changes and mainly aims at fixing bugs and improving performance. It does however add the landscape orientation to the Nexus 7, which was a feature it lacked at launch.

You can wait for Google to roll out the update to your device region or use the following step-by-step method to manually install Android 4.1.2 on your device.

Before you proceed you will have to root your Google Nexus 7 and install ClockworkMod Recovery

1. Download Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (JZO54K) for your Google Nexus 7.
2. Place the downloaded file in the /sdcard on your device storage.
3. Reboot your device to ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery.
4. Navigate to install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard.
5. Select the file you previously transferred to your device in Step 2.
6. Select reboot system now from the main menu.

Once completed you can make sure your device has been updated to Android 4.1.2 by heading over to Settings > About.
