Jelly Bean brings several performance improvements over ICS and its disappointing that users have to wait for so long to get an update which would boot their performance. The following guide will show you how to install some of the system apps from Jelly Bean on your ICS devices.
The apps include Email Client, Face Lock, Gallery, Gmail, Google Books, Google Calendar, Google Currents, Google Ears, Google Earth, Google News, Google Magazines, Google Maps, Google Music, Noise Field, Phase Beam, Google Play, Google+, Street View, Talk Back, Video Editor, Videos and Google Wallet.
Your device will have to be rooted and you will need to have ClockworkMod Recovery installed before you proceed. Keep in mind that while these apps should work on any ICS ROM, some of them may not work correctly as they were built for Jelly Bean.
[NOTE] The following process is for advanced used. Please do not proceed unless you are fully aware of the risks of installing custom ROMs and apps. Please backup your data and proceed at your own risk.
- Download the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean apps.
- Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable and transfer the downloaded file to the root folder of your device.
- Disconnect your device from the computer, switch it off and boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
- Once you are in Recovery Mode, select ‘Install ZIP from sdcard’ and then ‘Choose ZIP from sdcard’.
- Now select the file you previously placed in your device root and wait for the installation to complete.
- Once installation has completed successfully, select ‘Reboot system now’.
- Once your system has booted back on, you should have access to all the new Google apps from Jelly Bean
- If you have any trouble installing the apps, we will be happy to help you with any questions you would like answered. If you have any issues with the app or experience crashes, you can discuss them with the developers by following the source link.
