Nokia stocks drop down 16% despite new Lumia announcement

Nokia unveiled two of their newest Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices during a special event today. Despite the impressing showing, Nokia investors weren't impressed, as the company’s stocks plummeted down by 16% following the unveiling.

The Nokia Lumia 920, the company’s newest flagship boasts PureView camera with great low light performance and amazing image stabilization achieved through Nokia’s ‘floating lens’ technology. The Nokia Lumia 820 on the other hand offers an affordable alternate with the same amazing features like the wireless charging and Carl Zeiss optics.

So why weren't the investors impressed? We assume it had something to do with omission of the large 41 Megapixel sensor which debuted on the Nokia 808 PureView Symbian smartphone. The expectations were that Nokia would include at least a 21 MP sensor on their Lumia Windows Phone. Instead the company branded PureView for image quality instead of the oversampling technology.
