Microsoft renamed Marketplace to Windows Phone Store

Microsoft wants to make the Windows Phone 8 experience as close to Windows 8 as possible, and one of the changes will be renaming the Windows Phone Marketplace to Windows Phone Store.

The change was made official in an announcement on the company’s blog.

Along with the name change there will also be additional options for Windows Phone app filtering.

Microsoft also stated that Windows Phone apps with more adult content will be less visible to casual Windows Phone app browsers. While this content will be available based on it meeting the certification criteria, it will not be directly accessible to a younger audience.
“In the Store, for example, you’ll now see Top Free and Top Paid. The renamed and improved New+Rising list is not only refreshed more frequently, but takes into consideration how quickly an app is being downloaded. A new addition to the lineup—Best Rated—ranks apps based on customer ratings and actual usage patterns for a more nuanced picture of what’s great”.
Microsoft also hopes to make some changes in the official Windows Phone website. Australia and New Zealand will be the first to see the new changes before it rolls out to other regions around the world.
