Grooveshark launches HTML5 site for mobile music

For those who doesn't know this, Grooveshark is a music streaming website, which lets you listen to all your favorite music online for free. The developers of the service have now introduced an HTML web app which can be opened through your iOS, Android, Windows Phone or any supported browser.

While Grooveshark hasn't found its way to the Apple App Store, it has been available to Android users through Google Play. However due to several legal issues, it has now been pulled from the Google Play Store as well.

Users can still download the APK file for Android or get Grooveshark for your jailbroken iOS device through Cydia. However the cross platform HTML5 app works quite well, and there is no reason to worry about installing apps. Just point your web browser to html5.grooveshark.com and get ready to enjoy your music.

The web app works perfectly on iOS and reasonably well on Android. However we had some snags when we tested it out on Windows Phone, but the app works in the background and the media controls are available to pause or skip where required.

As you would have guessed, the free version comes with ad-support, but can pay a nominal fee to disable the ads if you wish. You also have the option of signing up for a free account which will give you the added option of saving playlists which can then be accessed through any HTML5 browser.
