Today RIM announced that the BlackBerry App World had reached a milestone of 3 billion app downloads. RIM's online app store has been open for a little over three years now, and back in April the company announced that the store had reached the 2 billion downloads milestone. So its quite impressive that they have reached the 3 billion mark in less than 3 months.
Its quite impressive that RIM is staying focused a midst the heavy competition from their competitors. App World houses app for both the PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphones, and we feel the PlayBook is probably the greatest contributor to the app download growth.
Once RIM releases BlackBerry OS 10, we hope the company will be able to give their brand the push it needs to get back into the mainstream.
