The Google Nexus Tablet is the still to be announced rumored tablet from Google which hopes to take on the role of iPad killer.
The only tablet which has come even remotely close to challenging the iPad dominance is the Amazon Kindle Fire. Now Google has decided to join the fray offering their own product at a price even lower than the $199 price tag of the Fire.
Well these are all rumors at this point, so how would we respond to the following image which claims to be the first leaked photos of the Google Nexus Tablet.
The image looks like it has been influenced by the Nexus Phone series and even seams to have some design elements borrowed from the iPad. While the device is rumored to be a 7 inch model, the image seams to favor a portrait orientation we see often in larger 10 inch tablets.
Other inconsistencies include the Android Market icon, along with the Google Books icon which have now been re branded Google Play.
While we can't be certain if this is indeed a Google Tablet, the design looks good and if Google keeps to the rumored price range, the device will surely be a huge hit. Google will also have to work on improving their collection of tablet centric apps to better compete with Apple. Apple's strength lies in it's App Store, and if Google can get enough developers behind Google Play they may have the tools to properly challenge Apple.
The other obstacle Google will have to face is marketing. rumors suggest that Google is planning to market the Nexus Tablet as they did with the Google Nexus One. While Google has still to have success marketing their own products, we know that the company is very capable of getting the attention of public thanks to the immensely popular advertising. While the iPad does continue to dominate espesially with it's latest iteration, a well priced product will always get the attention of deal hungry online users.
So while we shelf this report as a rumor and wait to see if it becomes a fact, we sit impatiently awaiting Google's leap into the tablet market.
