Nokia 808 PureView - Camera and Sample Photos

The Nokia 808 PureView is now official and the output from it 41 megapixel (yes you read that correctly) is just amazing. The device has a 4 inch display protected by Gorilla Glass which acts as a super sized viewfinder  The 1.3GHz processor onboard coupled with 512MB of RAM and managed by Nokia Belle gives you an amazing combination to produce high quality photos and equally appealing 1080p HD video. Check out some of the official photo samples which follow and experience the Nokia 808 PureView in action

The camera used over sampling to combine up to seven pixels into one "pure" pixel, thus eliminating the  visual noise you generally find it camera phones. The device has a zoom of 3X without any loss of details in your photos and there are no artificially created pixels in your photos. You can also capture high resolution photos at 38 megapixels and save them in a size which you find suitable.

The low light performance is also drastically improved thanks to the oversampling technology on th 808 PureView. The device is capable of capturing five times (5x) more light than a typical optical zoom camera at full zoom. Under normal lighting conditions you get to enjoy faster shutter speeds which in turn reduce the effects of camera shaking.

The Nokia 808 has now set a new standard for camera phone photography and it will be interesting to see how the competitors respond. While Nokia Belle is an amazing operating system, I am curious if the device will be adopted with open arms considering the platforms inevitable demise. If Microsoft had managed to get Windows Phone ready for PureView, Nokia would have had a great opportunity to catapult back to the top. That being said, I will remain hugely optimistic for this device's success. I cannot wait to trial this device and would surely be one of the first in line to get my hands on a Nokia 808 PureView when it goes on sale.
