RIM has also finally included a native email client for the PlayBook. The email client being ignored on the first version was heavily criticized by PlayBook users.
A new folders feature allows you to soft your apps into various folders. Other updates include better social network integration, bug fixes, video chat and performance improvements
How to update to BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0
NOTE - Please leave your PlayBook plugged in while you update your device. The PlayBook requires at least 20% of power during the update process and a lack of sufficient power during the update can cause your device to malfunction (be bricked)
When you purchase a new PlayBook the device will be automatically updated to PlayBook OS 2.0 when its setup. Current owners will receive a software update notification on the status bar. When you see this, you need to click the 'Update' which will initiate the Software Update download. Once completed you will be prompted to restart your tablet and you will then have BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 on your BlackBerry PlayBook.
To manually update your PlayBook to OS 2.0
- Click the Gear Icon found in the upper right corner or your PlayBook
- Select Software Updates
- Select Check for Updates
- If an update is available it will be displayed. Select Download to initiate downloading the update.
- After the download is complete select Install to install the update
- Restart your PlayBook
