What do you browse the web with ?

A recent study by Google has revealed that the number of people with an internet capable mobile device have surpassed that of a desktop or laptop computer. Does this mean we are seeing the end to web pressense being dominated by computers ? Are we really in a post PC era ?

The study was conducted in five major markets - U.S., U.K., France, Germany and Japan with the goal of collecting data on smartphone and feature phone ownership and usage. The results show that 78 percent of the users access the internet from the handset compared to 68 percent who  use a desktop or laptop. Tablets were not part of this study as only 13 percent of the surveyed demographic owned one.

As smartphones get more and more advanced each year, It should be no surprise that they are dominating in web presence. With the latest line-up of devices featuring quad-core processors, LTE internet connectivity and HD displays we will continue to see regular computer usage reduce.

But does this mean the PC industry will fade out? No way. While smartphones and tablets do help get things done quickly, they are in no means replace the high density of storage or powerful graphics and processor capabilities of modern computers at least not in the near future.

Do you feel you rely more on your smartphones and less on your computers ? Voice your thoughts below.
