New RIM CEO promises change

The new RIM CEO Thorsten Heins is looking to make changes according to his interview with CrackBerry. He went on to say that he has been looking at competitors offerings to see what path is best suited for RIM to get back the glory they once had.

He did say however that there wont be any changes to the company itself. A previous statement in which he said that "there would be no changes coming" was wrongly interpreted and he confirmed that he meant that there will be no restructuring, splitting into different companies or sale of RIM. The products however will see " a lot of change" according to Mr. Heins.

He stated that the reason that RIM was behind it's competition can be attributed to the staff not analysing it's competition. He aims to fix this by taking a good look at the competition to make sure RIM knows what they are competing with and which features need to be available on BlackBerry smartphones in order for them to impact the markets.

While RIM's new head feels that the company has been heading on the right path despite their bad decisions and is confident he can fix that. It will be interesting to see what becomes of RIM in the coming months.
