Huawei announces Ascend P1 and the Ascend P1 S as world's thinnest phone

Huawei has just announced the Huawei Ascend P1 S at the CES 2012 which beats the Motorola Droid RAZR as the new world’s thinnest smartphone. The device is just 6.68 mm (0.26 inches) thin beating the 7.1 mm on the Droid RAZR.

Additionally Huawei is also announcing the Huawei Ascend P1 a younger sibling of the flagship which is almost physically identical but has a slightly thicker 7.69 mm (0.3 inch) body.

The Ascend P1 S features a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED touch display with a 540 x 960 pixel resolution, an 8 megapixel backside illuminated (BSI) camera capable of 1080p HD video recording, a secondary 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 dual-core processor, a SGX 540 graphics chip with 1GB of RAM. Despite its thin size Huawei has managed to squeeze in a 1800 mAh battery on this Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device.

Both devices will be available in metallic black, ceramic white and cherry-blossom pink in Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, Australia, China and the Middle East in the second quarter of 2012.
