Nokia and Microsoft announced that Symbian Belle devices will be getting Microsoft Business apps not too long ago. The first phase of this release will include
OneNote, Lync, PowerPoint Broadcaster and
Microsoft Document Connection and it will be released at the end of this year as an OTA software update. The second half which is expected early in 2012 will bring
Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Early beta builds of these applications were demonstrated during Nokia World 2011. One the suite is complete it is set to replace QuickOffice as the default handler for office files on Symbian devices.
You will be open document directly from the file manager or from an email, or through the Microsoft Document Connection application.
Microsoft Document Collection collects all the office files stored on your device and on remote SharePoint servers into a unified list. You can filter thorough this list by data, type or contact. You have the option of marking specific documents as favorite to make it easier to find regularly used files. You can select the file you want to open and it will open from it's location.
