[Guide] How to install Android 4.0 on Samsung Galaxy S II through MIUI ROM

This guide tells you how to install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the Samsung Galaxy S II through the MIUI ROM. Of course you can wait for the official release of Android (vanilla) build in early 2012, but if you want to try a custom ROM you can check it out.

Remember that with a custom ROM you won't get the visual elements of Android 4.0, instead you will have MIUI's own interface, but with the Android 4.0 functionality. The developers have put the ROM together using the ICS framework in GalnetMIUI and CM7 for the AT&T version of the Galaxy S II.

NOTE - The process of rooting and installing custom ROMs is for experienced users and may void your warranty. This process may leave your device bricked and un-usable. We are not responsible for any issues which may occur by inexperience or not following the guide properly.

The latest version of the ROM is GalnetMIUI 1.11.7 and the installation guide follows:
  1. Download MIUI 1.11.7 ICS V1 [mirror1 | mirror2 | mirror3 | mirror4]
  2. Extract MIUI 1.11.7.rar downloaded in Step 1 to a location of your choosing.
  3. Copy the extracted MIUI folder and MIUISCOTLAND 1.11.7 V1.zip to your microSD card.
  4. Wipe your device. (You can also do this during ROM install)
  5. Install your custom ROM (click the link if you need a guide)
  6. Use a File explorer and browse to
    • sdcard/MIUI/theme/backup/backup.mtz to install the theme

You can head over to XDA-Developers post to discuss issues or questions.
