HP talks about Windows 8 Tablet and webOS future

HP CEO Meg Whitman has confirmed that the company is planning a Windows 8 tablet. This news comes after she confirmed that HP will keep their PC division and will not be spinning it off to another company

With Windows 8 scheduled for a 2012 release, we can expect the HP tablet to be released sometime following that. Other than that, there is no more information available on the device.

Regarding WebOS, the company said that they are working on a long term solution for the future of the platform  and will have a decision in the next couple of months.

The HP TouchPad - The company's first WebOS tablet, which could have been a huge success for the company, ended up in the end of a fire sale and stocks have since depleted.

We are all curious to see how the tablet version of Windows 8 will turn out. Microsoft will need the support of Manufacturers like HP to help them move forward.

HP which has not gotten into the Android bandwagon will be a great candidate to manufacturer tablets for Microsoft, and can be do for tablets what Nokia has done for Windows Phones.
