Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will load all PS1 games

A few days ago I was reading an article which said that by 2015 mobile devices will be able to handle the gaming graphics of modern consoles. While I do feel we are far from reaching that point Its something that got my attention.

One smartphone which is already taking steps towards getting there is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which plays PlayStation One games. While the device only plays games games from it's dedicated market, a developer has worked on a hack that allows to load any PS1 game from an ISO image and play it on the Xperia gaming device.

This means that you can pull out the old games from your retired PlayStation and start loading a few and see how they play. This only works for single disk games for now since the process is still in an early stage of developement.

Check out an old favorite Crash Bandicoot 3 running on the Xperia Play:

This is just an indication of things to come. As hardware becomes smaller and more powerful, we will continue to see gaming devices become more personal.
