New virtual keyboard on BlackBerry OS 7

According to a report from CrackBerry forum, the BlackBerry Torch 2 will have an updated virtual keyboard as a part of the improvements in BlackBerry OS 7. This new layout which is similar to what you will find on the BlackBerry PlayBook and offers more room between the keys.

Other changes in the keyboard include the shift key being put on both sides, removed internet key which has been replaced with a dedicated question mark key, The period key has moved a step down and a dedicated comma button has been added.

These changed will surely find there way to the other BlackBerry OS 7 devices as well as the folks at RIM seam to be working hard to make BlackBerry more relevant in the market dominated by Android and the iPhone. Reports have shown the the new BlackBerry devices will come with more standard hardware like 1GHz (and higher) processors and HD video recording. RIM may have a long way to go before they can catch up with their competition, but its nice to see them going in the right direction.
