The BlackBerry PlayBook has received a firmware update. The update brings new attachment support and multimedia options but still doesn't offer the email support nor does it offer Android application support. Two features which were promised to users.
The update which is 358MB in size brings the software version to 1.0.7 aims at improving the BlackBerry Bridge. It allows you to browse and extract your zip files on your PlayBook even from your BlackBerry smartphone memory-card.
The multimedia features include portrait orientation support in the pictures hub. You can also execute pinch-zoom while playing or watching videos similar to what you can do in the photos.
More languages are also supported on the Playbook now, with the addition of 15 new languages which will allow the PlayBook to continue to grow globally. While these are welcome features, users would quickly get frustrated waiting for the big update to find it's way to their devices. I hope that RIM understands this and gets on it sooner rather than later.
