[Guide] How to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 using redsn0w 0.9.6rc11



Mac and Windows users can use the latest version of renSn0w to (un-tethered) jailbreak your iOS device on iOS 4.3.1. The latest version of the redSn0w tool fixes several issues which were present on the earlier version of this tool.



[NOTE] Apple does not recommend jailbreaking your device and it may void your warranty. Please keep in mind that this website is not responsible for any loss of data or device malfunction which may occur from improper use of this guide.






Unlockers - Stay clear of this process. Ultrasn0w 1.2 needs to be fixed to for iOS 4.3.1



  • Copy The RedSnow extracted folder to your desktop open the folder and run 'redsn0w.exe'.
  • Click 'Browse' and select the iOS firmware file for your device.





    • iPhone 3GS users will be prompted to select if their device has the old or new bootrom. Follow the prompts. and select 'Yes' or 'No'.



  • Click Next and allow the tool to prepare the firmware for your device.



  • Once it is done you will be prompted to make some selections on the next screen.





    'Install Cydia' will be selected by default. If you want, you can select any of the other features if not leave it as it is, and click 'Next'.
  • You will be prompted to
    • Plugin your device
    • Switch it off
    • Click 'Next'



  • Follow the prompts to put your device into DFU mode:
    • Hold your device 'Power' button for 3 seconds.
    • While holding your 'Power' button also hold your 'Home' button, for another 10 seconds.
    • Release the 'Power' button while continuing to hold down the 'Home' button until the screen changes.
  • Wait for RedSn0w to complete, and it will restart your device for you.



Your device is now jailbroken (untethered) on iOS 4.3.1




Unlock
