Since the release of the iPad last year, CES 2011 would probably be the biggest day for tablets, with various manufacturers making their own stance in the tablet world. Android's 3.0 honeycomb based tablets may also make their debut. While Android tablets would probably dominate this section, Microsoft's CEO Steve Balmer's presentation is also expected to feature his company's plans to contribute to the tablet/slate market. There is hope that an early look of Windows 8 will also surface during his keynote. It is however likely that the devices from Microsoft will feature a Windows 7 based demonstration, which would not be anything new since we saw what Windows 7 could do on the HP Slate at last year's CES.Smartphones are expected to play a big role in this year's show. Devices featuring two cores, with NVidia's Tegra chipset is expected to be announced from Motorola, LG and NVidia. Android phones will probably dominate here as well, with more Android 2.3 based devices seeing the light of day. I also hope that we will see some new Windows Phone 7 devices join the lineup of smartphones.

A lot of the speculation lies around Verizon and the release of a CDMA iPhone. This would shift the monopoly from AT&T and allow a wider use of the iPhone in the U.S and even around the world. Verizon's CEO Ivan Seidenberg is due to start off his speech on the opening day where he is due to discuss the company's 4G network plans. It is questionable if Apple will let verizon preview a new iPhone, but with Apple what we have learned is to be surprised.

While the CES 2011 will cover much more than what I have discussed above, I decided to stay focussed on what will impact the mobile world. So if you are a mobile enthusiast like myself looking to stay updated on the latest of what's to come, stay tuned as I bring you the latest news from the CES 2011.
