Nokia 5250 officially announced

The Nokia 5250 is the latest touch screen device from Nokia, which is aimed at a music loving audience. It also has a good value for money considering the features packed into it. The device has 51MB of memory on board and can be expanded upto 16GB via microSD card. The device is also coupled with FM radio to support it's music branding. The 5250 also has a preinstalled free copy of Guitar Hero 5.

The device will not feature WiFi or 3G for connectivity and will only have a 2MP camera on board. The camera however can also be used to capture video. The device will also feature Ovi Music Unlimited, which will be available to users of selected territories.

Considering the size of the phone it is a little surprising that the screen is so small. It almost looks like there is extra plastic on the sides which is not needed. It is understandable that the screen size is kept small to support it's lower price, but wouldn't it then make sense for Nokia to have a smaller device itself without having all the additional bulk.

I am also concerned that with Symbian^3 just around the corner that Nokia keeps churning out devices running Symbian^1. All I can hope is that over time, all the mistakes with Symbian^1 are ironed out and not forgotten.

From the pictures i found of the device, the above courtesy of GSM Arena, it looks like the device will be features in 5 colors. This too seams to have become a trademark of Nokia's as of late.
