[iOS app] Vine updated (3.0.0) with support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Vine for iOS has been updated to version 3.0.0 with a few new features and improvements including support for the larger displays on the and . The update also brings an iOS 8 share extension, which makes it easy to share videos from the camera roll, and even from other video apps. Additionally, the newly introduced "+" button lets you follow Vine channels.

Vine has been updated to iOS and Android, and has received a much need update to improve its video recording capabilities. Until now users are only allowed to capture 6 second Vine videos using the camera. Following the update, users have the ability to upload previously created videos as vines from their gallery or camera rolls.

Twitter's Vine app allows you to record and share brief 6-second videos, dubbed "vines". Now  and  have been updated to version 2.1.0 which brings several new features and improvements, including a slightly redesigned interface and a real-time loop counter which lets you know how many times your vine has been looped.

[Windows Phone app] Twitter (beta) reveals deeper integration with Windows Phone 8.1

A beta version of Twitter for Windows Phone has revealed some of the changes headed to the client to support the Windows Phone 8.1 software update. The beta build was circulating as an open beta for a limited time, but was subsequently removed and is no longer available for download through the Store.

Among the improvements, the Twitter for Windows Phone beta allows pictures tweeted by you to be viewed on the Photos Hub. The 'Share to' is back, allowing link sharing with third party apps.

Vine for iOS and Vine for Android have been updated to version 2.0.0 which brings direct messaging. As per usual with Vine, videos can only be 6 seconds long, but the interesting twist is that you can send direct messages to anyone, even if they aren't on Vine.

[Android app] Twitter (alpha) offers "Fave People" to track favorite Twitter accounts

Twitter is experimenting with a new feature called “Fave People,” which allows you to keep track of your favorite Twitter users and accounts in a separate timeline. This feature, essentially a more user-friendly version of Twitter’s “Lists,” recently appeared in the alpha version of Twitter’s Android application – the app where the company tests new features and changes before rolling them out to beta testers, and then, finally, to the general public.

The company took the opportunity to debut their first Galaxy S5 ads during the award ceremony, but also made sure they outfitted the host, Ellen Degeneres with a Galaxy Note 3. Ellen would first take a selfie of herself on stage followed by one circled by some of the attendees.

Twitter announces Android alpha program

Following in the footsteps of a successful beta program, the folks at Twitter have also launched an alpha program for their Android application. According to Twitter the Alpha Program will include earlier iterations of experiments, and will also give users an opportunity to provide direct feedback and collaborate with the developers via a forum, in order to take a more active role in testing out bugs.

Twitter updated with inline photo and video previews

The official Twitter for iOS has been updated to version 5.12 which Twitter for Android has been updated to version 4.1.9. The update brings a few new features and improvements including inline previews for photos and videos. The feature, enabled by default but toggleable in the settings menu, shows an expanded preview of photos and Vines (but not YouTube videos) directly in your feed. You can then tap the inline image to show a larger version.
