BlackBerry Z30 officially announced

The BlackBerry Z30 was officially announced today at a special event which took place in Kuala Lampur Malaysia. It makes sense that the company's newest flagship was finally uncovered, considering all the rumors and leaks over the past few months. However we assumed that BlackBerry may use the event as an opportunity to launch BBM for Android and iOS. BBM for Android, which has been apart of various leaks is rumored to arrive as early as this Friday.

In any case we have a new flagship device in our hands, so lets take a closer look at what the device has to offer.

BlackBerry 10.2 - Video Demo

BlackBerry 10.2 is coming and promises to bring several new features and improvements to the platform along with its release. A newly released video now shows the update in action with features like toast notifications, marking contacts and groups as high priority and dark theme in settings. Level 1 notifications are accessible with a simple pinch gesture.

However keep in mind that the update is still in an early stage of development and features like lock-screen previews are still not working.

BlackBerry 10.2 will add support for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean apps

If you are an avid BlackBerry follower or user you may remember when BlackBerry (then RIM) launched PlayBook OS 2.0 with the ability to run specially packaged apps developed for Android 2.3.3. This was used to urge developers to port their apps over to the BlackBerry platform, but it wasn't easy to keep developers on Gingerbread when the Android platform was moving forward so quickly.

Rumors of the Android App Player being updated to support  were disputed as it was believed that RIM would phase off the Android app runtime in favor of apps written in C++, HTML5, or Adobe AIR. But it looks like BlackBerry isnt quite ready to give up on Android yet.

Today the company announced that BlackBerry 10.2 will come with support for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
