When Nokia chose to run the then new Windows Phone operating system instead of Android, many fans wondered what a Nokia built Android smartphone would have looked like. While we may never get to see a premium Android device from the pioneer phone maker, we get to experience Android in the form of the Nokia X lineup.
The entry level Nokia X comes with a 4 inch display, optional dual SIM along with signature Nokia apps and services distributed through a Nokia curated store. While the forked version of Android on the Nokia X does not feature any of Google's services like GMail or Google Maps, you get various alternatives from Nokia and Microsoft along with the ability to install almost every other Android app through non Google Play sources.
The Nokia X can cost anywhere around $145 to $170 if you are looking to purchase the device in the U.S.. At that price, it has to compete against the more capable Motorola Moto G, which costs just slightly more.
However, Moto X is much cheaper than its Android counterparts in Europe, priced at just €119, while the Moto G costs €159 and the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 can set you back €163. On the other hand, the LG L40 which comes with Android 4.4 KitKat costs just €88, though it has a 3.5 inch display, despite having similar hardware.
