HTC One (M7) for Verizon receives Sense 6 update

The HTC One (M7) on Verizon is now receiving a software update which brings the latest (sixth-sense) version of the company's Sense custom interface for Android. Sense 6 is the version of the HTC interface that debuted on the HTC One M8, and since it's being passed down to the original HTC One, and is reportedly headed to devices like the One Mini and One Max at some point.

The update will brings the 4.10.605.3 software version, and the addition of a single page with all of the categories of content you can include on your personalized BlinkFeed. The update also adds a new design that lets you continuously scroll through content options for the feature. And with Sense 6, BlinkFeed can add restaurant recommendations from Twitter and Foursquare, helping you know where the best places to dine are in your area.

Additionally you also get a new UI with vivid colors and bold typography. The camera app will allow you to customize camera settings with updated menu options. A new button lets you access preloaded camera choices. With the changes to the Gallery app, Video Highlights will be available from the top of each section, and you can easily separate pictures using the Timeline, Albums and Location settings.

After installing Sense 6, wallpapers can be changed on the home screen without having to click on settings. You can also bypass settings to change the home screen, and add widgets, apps and shortcuts. The update also improves Wi-Fi connectivity on the phone, and an Emergency Alert app has been added.

HTC Sense is the custom user interface used by the company on their Android devices. HTC says it has redesigned Sense "from the ground up" for this 2014 edition, but what's really new? Here are the top new features and tweaks in the new HTC Sense 6 software.

The update will be pushed OTA (over-the-air) and you will receive a notification when it is available for your device. Once you receive the notification, it will take 25-30 minutes to download the update. Installation should take an additional 10 minutes to 20 minutes, during which time you will not be able to make/take calls. You should be on a Wi-Fi connection for the updating process, with your battery at least 50% powered up.
