Qualcomm announces new 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 and quad-core Snapdragon 610


Qualcomm SnapdragonQualcomm has just announced the Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, which has eight 64-bit ARM Cortex A53 cores. It will be joined by the Snapdragon 610 quad-core processor, which is also 64-bit capable.

Both new SoCs include Adreno 405 GPUs, and come with LTE Cat 4 support, while also integrating “critical 3G technologies, including HSPA+ (up to 42Mbps), CDMA, and TD-SCDMA.”

According to Qualcomm, the first commercial devices using he new Snapdragon 610 and 615 processors should be available starting the fourth quarter of this year - which is later than devices using the more powerful Snapdragon 801 which was also announced today.
