Sony announces which devices will receive the Android 4.3 software update


The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update was announced yesterday and Sony is the first manufacturer to confirm which of their handsets will be in line for the latest version of Android. Meanwhile Samsung and HTC who also commented about the new Android build have stated that their are still reviewing Android 4.3 and deciding what their plans will be.

While HTC and Samsung users would likely be disappointed to have to wait longer to learn about the update, its important to remember that both companies have provides hardware like the HTC One Google Edition and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition will receive the Android 4.3 update in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile if you are an owner of the Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZRSony Xperia ZLSony Xperia Tablet ZSony Xperia SP or the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, you will be happy to know that the Android 4.3 update is coming for your device. Unfortunately the Japanese manufacturer hasnt revealed how long it will take for this update to arrive for these devices.

Meanwhile the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software update is still being rolled out to Sony devices with the Sony Xperia ZR and the Sony Xperia Tablet Z the last in line to receive the last version of Android. It will be interesting to see if Sony completes the Android 4.2 update first or releases the Android 4.3 update instead for its older devices.

Its currently estimated that the update should arrive in early August, but its important to remember that Google would be readying Android 5.0 alongside their next Nexus smartphone and full size tablet by fall.
