[Android app] Google Play Music updated to address data usage issues

One of the features that Google Play Music for Android has been lacking is the ability to reduce your streaming quality of your music and reduce data use. Fortunately the app has been recently updated to version 5.0.1052J.707098 which addresses this issue by reducing the data footprint of the app.

You can download the update directly on your device through the Google Play Store or by using the following link:

Previously the only option was to stream music at its highest quality which would then result in high data usage. With the update users can control their mobile data usage with some new options.

The Google Play Music for Android update has the following new features and improvements:
  • Keeping music on device now much faster
  • New setting for mobile network bandwidth usage
  • Search quality improvements
  • Reduced data usage overall
