[Android app] Google Translate updated (2.6), with offline support for 50 languages

Its been awhile since Google Translate for Android has been updated, but today it is receiving a significantly big update. The update includes the ability to download language packs which can be used for offline translations and there are 50 language packs to choose from.

You can download the update directly on your Android device through the Google Play Store or by using the link which follows:

Requirements Android 2.1 or greater

After you install the update, check the menu on the top right to download the language packs of your choosing.

The Google Translate for Android version 2.6 has the following new features and improvements:
  • Translate without a network connection with offline language packages (available on Android 2.3 and above).
  • Translate vertical text in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean with your Camera.
The update is extremely useful for users who like to travel, because it means you don’t have to use a data plan for your translations when you are out of the country. It is also great for tablet users who don’t have data connectivity on their devices.
