BlackBerry 10 trumps iOS 6 and Windows Phone 8 in web browser speed tests

We know that BlackBerry 10 is expected to launch on January 30th with the first BlackBerry 10 devices expected to be released 30 days after. Currently the team at RIM is hard at work readying their platform for public consumption and early signs show that they have a very promising product in the works.

Reports have shown that the web browser on BlackBerry 10 came out on top when it was tested against Safari on iOS and Internet Explorer on Windows Phone 8.

RIM has built BlackBerry 10 from the ground up and have spent a great deal of time optimizing their newest platform. Based on what we have seen so far, it looks like the platform will be a true competitor in the mobile market. Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android continue to fight for the top spot. Meanwhile Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 hopes to take third place which is a spot that RIM would be targeting first.

The web browser tests were carried out on Dev Alpha B smartphone running BB10, which was put up against an Apple iPhone 5 running the latest version of iOS 6.0 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Apple’s iPhone is generally considered the benchmark for smartphones in the modern era and Windows Phone has been getting attention for its smooth performance. RIM’s ability to outperform proven competitors will hopefully give the platform the opportunity to be recognized as a healthy competitor.

Its important to remember that this is not the final build of BlackBerry 10 and it is running on pre-release hardware.

Unfortunately the test doesn't include an Android device and its Chrome browser. It would have been interesting to see how Google’s platform would have faired and strange to see it being excluded from this test.
