Archos GamePad launched in Europe

We first heard about the Archos GamePad back in March and several months later, the device has been made available across some markets in Europe. The tablet  which is aimed at gamers is priced at just 150 Euros ($194) and includes physical gaming buttons – a 4-way directional pad, a set of action buttons and dial analog sticks.

Additionally the Archos GamePad features a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, a front facing camera, built-in speaker with microphone, 8GB of storage which can be expanded through microSD, Wi-Fi and is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor with a quad-core Mali 400 GPU.

The GamePad runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, is 10 millimeters thin and weighs in at 330 grams.

You can also take advantage of the full Android experience with Google apps and content on the Google Play Store. Archos has included their own key mapping tool which doesn't even require games to be optimized for the GamePad to work with the included hardware buttons.

If you live in the U.S. you will have to wait until next year to get your hands on the GamePad.
