[Guide] How to Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 on pre-A5 devices using Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7

Sn0wbreeze has been updated to version 2.9.7 and brings support for iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.0.1. However only iOS devices powered by pre-A5 Apple chips. You can also consider using the Redsn0w jailbreak method for iOS 6.0.1  by the iPhone Dev Team, but it too has the same limitation.

You can follow our step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak on iOS 6.0.1 using Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7 below:

[NOTE] Keep in mind that this is a tethered jailbreak, which will require you to connect your device to your computer in order to maintain your jailbreak if you choose to restart it.

[NOTE] This guide will only work on the Apple iPhone 4, Apple iPhone 3GS and Apple iPod Touch 4th Gen. It will not work on any of the newer devices.

[DISCLAIMER] Jailbreaking your device is not recommended by Apple. We will not be responsible for any loss of data or device malfunction which may occur from improper use of this guide. Please proceed at your own risk.

    -
  2. Download iOS 6.0.1

    -

    • Make sure that Sn0wbreeze program doesn’t produce any errors and that your device is verified.
      -
  7. Select Simple Mode from the available list of modes and click the Next button to continue.
    -
  8. Sn0wbreeze will now build you a custom firmware file, which will be placed on your desktop when completed.
    -

    -
  9. Now put your device in Pwned DFU mode using the iREB option available on the Sn0wbreeze menu.
    -
  10. Once your device is in Pwned DFU mode, close Sn0wbreeze and start iTunes.
    • Select your connected device from the left iTunes menu
    • Press and hold the Shift key + the Restore button on iTunes.
    • iTunes will now prompt you to select your desired IPSW file.
    • Select the custom built firmware file which Sn0wbreeze created in Step 08 and let iTunes restore it to your device.
      -
  11. Sn0wbreeze will also create an additional folder on your desktop called iBooty. This is required to boot your device in tethered jailbreak mode in order to run apps and tweaks from Cydia.
    • Start iBooty and select the device you want to boot into tethered mode
    • Hit the Start button.
    • follow the onscreen instructions on iBooty to enter Pwned DFU mode on your device.
    • Once you are in DFU mode, iBooty will automatically boot your device into tethered jailbreak mode.
      -
Now you will be able to run Cydia and install your favorite apps and tweaks. Keep in mind that after you boot into your device using iBooty for the first time, Cydia may take some time to set up its file system and permissions as well as load the files it requires from its stock repositories. Also keep in mind that iBooty will be required every time you reboot or switch on your device.

You may want to hold on until a untethered jailbreak is released for uninterrupted usage.
