iOS 5 (Beta 05) released

Apple has just released the fifth beta of their upcoming iOS 5 mobile operating system. iOS 5 was first introduced during the WWDC 2011 event in San Francisco.

This beta version of iOS will only be available to developers who have enrolled in the Standard or Enterprise programs. If you are one of them you can download the beta here. This update is said to have minor enhancements over the previous build.

iOS 5 is expected to be released sometime early fall and may coincide with the release of a new iPhone. The latest version offers a revamped notification system and the iMessage instant messaging service for iOS devices. It also features enhancements to Safari Mobile and a easy set-up mode which helps users configure their devices without the use of iTunes.

The first beta was released on the 6th of June, the second beta was released on the 24th of June, the third beta was released on the 11th of July and the fourth beta was released on the 22nd of July.

Apple also released iTunes 10.5 Beta 5 to developers. The new version of iTunes is required to sync iOS 5 Beta 5 devices. This update is said to address performance improvements over the previous version.
