[Android app] Google Docs

As smartphones get smarter, you can do most of the tasks you do on your computer on your smartphones. With the launch of Microsoft Office on the Windows Phone platform, it becomes important for smartphones to be able to edit and view documents without the need of third party software.

You can download the app directly on your device through the Android Market or by using the link which follows:

You can also download the app to your device directly by scanning the following QR Code with a QR code reader of your choice

Google has responded by releasing the Google Docs App for Android. With this app you can filter and search for your content stored online and edit your documents using the online mobile editor. You can also share your items with the contacts on your device from within the app.

The Doc app also allows you to upload content from your phone and open documents directly from GMail. You can add a widget or shortcut to your home-screen for quick access. You can use the widget to take a photo of a document and edit it to Google's OCR (optical character recognition) and upload it.

The image to document conversion is apparently quite accurate in capturing unformatted text in English but wont recognize handwriting or some fonts yet. We can expect this to get better over time.
