Samsung Gear VR officially announced, brings Oculus powered virtual reality to mobile

The was officially announced at today's IFA event, bringing virtual reality to mobile devices. To achieve this, Samsung has had a "deep and integrated partnership" with Oculus, a leader in virtual reality technology.

The Gear VR was described by Oculus CEO, John Carmack as "a virtual reality headset with world class resolution and performance, all on a completely mobile platform. The headset makes use of the 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display on the Galaxy Note 4 for mobile visuals, and is built with soft, flexible cushioning and lightweight materials. 

The Galaxy VR features a super accuracy sensor with 20 millisecond processing speed, so the user wont notice latency. When you are wearing the Gear VR you will have a 96 degree viewing angle, which is the same as sitting 2 meters away from a 175 inch mega screen.

The Samsung Gear VR will come with Oculus Virtual Cinema, Gamers and much more... Here is a list of some of the content users can expect on the virtual reality goggles.

  • Cirque du Soleil Media presents a 360 live-action 3D VR experience, featuring an act from Zarkana filmed by Felix & Paul Studios for Samsung Gear VR.

The Samsung Gear VR will come in White, with market availability and pricing to be announced shortly.
