Original Microsoft Surface Pro discounted as new model starts shipping

Microsoft has released their new series of Surface tablets though the company's online store. However they are not quite ready to discontinue their first generation Surface tablets. We already know the Microsoft Surface RT will remain at its $350 price. Now the company has revealed that the Microsoft Surface Pro will also be receiving a decent discount.

Last year's Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, with 64GB of SSD storage, now starts at $699, which is $200 less than its introductory price. The 128GB model costs $100 extra. In comparison, the base Surface Pro 2 retails for $899.

The Original Surface Pro, which comes with Windows 8 Pro features a 10.6-inch HD touch display, up to 128GB of internal storage, an SD card reader, a full-USB 3.0 port, a rear camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor with 4GB of RAM and a Intel HD graphics 4000. These specifications are capable of taking on most intensive tasks and even some heavy games.

However its probably worth investing in the newer Surface if you have the extra $200 to spare. The 4th generation processor on the Surface 2 offers much better battery life, superior graphics performance, better cameras and several other enhancements.
